I've been around San Diego since 2008, when I was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps.
I’ve been sharpening knives and tools as a hobby for over ten years. In 2025, encouragement from friends and family led me to turn that hobby into a business and open Carlsbad Sharpening.
While I aim to be competitive on price and turnaround time, I will never compromise on delivering the finest work I am capable of. Every item I am entrusted with receives the highest level of care and attention, from family heirlooms to everyday workhorse tools.

- Personal service: When it comes to taking care of my customers, I'm a little old-fashioned. I answer the phone. I’m happy to answer questions – whether it's what to buy, or how to care for it. Information is always free.
- Precision: A good edge balances sharpness and durability. I use precision equipment to fine-tune that balance for your tools and how you use them, and to repeat the result when you bring them back.
- Attention to detail: Every edge is hand-finished and tested. Nothing leaves the shop until it meets my standard.
- Water-cooled sharpening: I primarily sharpen with ultra-low-speed, water-cooled machines. This process eliminates the risk of damage from overheating and keeps steel removal to a minimum, helping your knives and tools last. It takes longer, but I'm confident you'll agree the results are worth it.
- My guarantee: I stand behind my work. If you're not delighted, let me know within seven days of delivery and I’ll do it again at no charge.†
